Old vise needed a paint job, so I decided a new stand would be good for it, too.

Thanks,n DIYer - much appreciated!
That's different than the vise stand I made. I made a low stand for holding stuff to grind, and wire wheel. Putting things in my bench vise up higher was killing me. So I made this one pretty low. Make a Tripod Vise Stand
pfredX1 - I know the feeling! My back was complaining about the vise being too low, which prompted this stand. I have a lower mount for another vise that puts it at about the height in your Instructables post. Most of what I do with the tall stand is holding one end of long pieces or a quick cut or grind on small items.
I don't have to lean over to get to my tripod vise. My arms are long enough to reach it.
