    Wire Binding Tool

    Hi, all
I made up my version of this little tool recently and as usual posted a video of it on YouTube last night.
I didn't intend to post it here on the Homemade tools forum thinking it was too simple and wouldn't have been of that much interest, as there is some VERY classy stuff posted here on the forums !
But, having seen the surprising number of views on YouTube in such a short time, I've changed my mind and uploaded the video here.

There are NO claims to originality with this - I came across the idea somewhere some time back and just decided to make one of these handy little tools for my own use.

I'll be making one of these very soon!

Here is my pile of junk I threw together to become familiar with the concept. Works well for thin wire but can see it won't work for heavy gage.Wire Binding Tool-img_6152.jpg

I took a 1/4-20 bolt, a used grinding wheel dressing disk, some small scraps of aluminum, and a formed nut used to grab wood. The bolt has a slot cut in the end and the thread ground off to minimize width.

Here's my interpretation of a commercial version of the tool...

That page lists the website which lists the maker's website containing some good examples of its use.

I also made a couple of those, that design and the clamptight style as well. I could not justify the prices and for a little time I have a couple. The one like yours was for sale on ebay or best offer and I made an offer I would pay for it but they did not accept it, so of I went in the shop to make it.
