    Wooden strong knob / wheel

I would like to highlight my technique for making wooden knobs.

People often think that a wooden knob could be too fragile for a strong tightening or think that the screw could too rapidly turn into the wooden part ...
That's not true and here is how I make my wooden knobs :

Two wooden disks are turned out of a same piece and are then parted in two pieces.
An hex head screw is then drilled across its head, and a pin is inserted in that hole.
In one of the two wooden disks, a hole is drilled, just the size of the outer diameter of the screw head.
Then a little groove is carved to let the head with the pin to be inlaid entirely in the wood.
Both wooden disks are then re-glued with epoxy.
After drying, the screw shaft is chucked back on the lathe, and the knob is turned to its final shape.

    Here it is :

Here are some other examples where I have used this technique :

That's a great tip, Christophe! No chance for a bolt to round off its seat.

I like how the knob can be made large enough for my arthritic hands to grab

That's one idea I have already used here Christophe.

    Thank you
