I tried this once. I was in a pinch and needed to slide a 53 Chrysler over a couple feet. It didn't work. The wooden dolly broke as soon as I pushed it sideways. Granted, the Chrysler is heavier than the Chevy... It still was a pretty miserable and complete failure and I don't recommend using them to move a car.
