The bridge is connected as a voltage doubler. Two of the diodes in the bridge do nothing in this configuration.

Some time ago he had plans to sell on ebay and I bought it..I have spend a lot of money to build it and to this day I still can not get to run..I have tried to build it every way to build with no luck..I also have tried to contact him and all I ever got was the run around..He says that it does work well I have a pile of junk

I am curious about two things, at least. I understand the isolation transformer, but why step up or down?  Could it not just be a 120 to 120 VAC? or 240 to 240 VAC?  Also, why tie the AC around the bridge rectifier to the capacitors? V31joepalooka
