The experience of understanding and then making the circuit board is priceless. If the goal had been to own a power supply, by all means but it. But since the goal was to learn, making it is far superior to buying.

Sometimes you may be able to buy things instead of building them but the challenge of building them is half the fun!

These cost about $2.00 built on ebay. Free shipping. Those parts cost at least twice that. And you forgot to mention the IC in the parts list.
