DESCRIPTION:
Homemade wooden hydraulic press powered by a 6-ton bottle jack. Frame was constructed from 2x4 board and plywood, then glued and nailed together.

I guess DIYers need to work with the materials, and tools, at hand. The builder did prove that it works, though for the effort, I would have built the same thing from surplus steel.
