Reminds me of the centennial light bulb that's been constantly lit for almost 125 years.
Okay so that's an interesting one. They're running the bulb at about half its original rated voltage. Incandescent bulbs are incredibly sensitive to voltage. Life decreases proportional to V^-16 as voltage is increased. So they're running it at far less than the rated voltage, which will cause the light output and efficiency to fall off a cliff but the lifespan is increased an incredible amount. If you have a 1000 hour bulb that is intended to run at 240 volts but you run it at 120 volts, it'll last for MILLIONS of hours.Quote:
