120,000 RPM spindle - video
-
OK, I will bite, was that spindle actually doing any work? Or just spinning in the air? Guessing it was air powered?
-
When things get up those high RPMs I have no use for them.
I don't know what is going on in the nearly 3 minute video showing a wobbly spindle spinning

Comments at the youtube page, asked this as well, one was funny to me:

It was machining air, which, let's face it, is a pretty easy medium to work on. The problems start when trying to check that the results meet the required specifications, both dimensionally and the surface finish.
I think that we were not able to see the finished part because some dork opened a window and it blew away. };-)

Jon,
You wouldn't be having a lend of us, would you?

I watched it a 2X speed, it is really impressive at 240,000 RPM and only took about 85 seconds to watch it. :)

I think the whole pulpous of the video is the whining screaming high pitch sound. I put my headphones on then turned the sound on and that was all there was

How can you watch youtubes at 2x speed? It is one of my pet peeves not having fast forward.

There is a little "gear" in the lower right corner. Take a peek under that.

We have a good YouTube video watching guide with speed adjustment, plus slow motion, and a few other tips: https://www.homemadetools.net/forum/...ng-guide-75662
