This looks like a modern take on the original tool.
Here is a vid on a restoration of an antique tool that looks similar:
amazingly beautiful construction and brilliant design! But who the heck uses slotted screws anymore?
Screw heads are immaterial, this needs a hex socket for all the bits now available. This mechanism is triple or quadruple the strength of modern drivers; none of which I recall have a torque lever. Not to mention, none have much of a distance from handle to bit end. So bulky, there are many instances they aren't any help at all.Originally Posted by Guy Marsden

Oh, I see now! truly an excellent repair project and a very useful tool. Kudos!

It uses hex bits as Toolmaker51 says it should, I agree it would be sort of nuts to do anything different given the assortment of bits available these days. At that price point I won't be getting one, but it is a nicely designed thing I suppose.

It uses hex bits as Toolmaker51 says it should, I agree it would be sort of nuts to do anything different given the assortment of bits available these days. At that price point I won't be getting one, but it is a nicely designed thing I suppose.

Kickstarter; maybe I should ring those promoters, alerting them of various shortcomings a mere re-do won't overcome.
At $135.00 USD; customers deserve perfect. It's a long way from concept to execution.
Having just checked the site for progress, they're exhibiting two prototypes; those deficiencies are glaring.
Look at the priorities: "MetMo Driver is both a fidget toy and tool, keeping you satisfied for hours on end either fiddling with it or using it to drive to the centre of the Earth."
But ~5,600 backers are in. Wonder about percentage of tool guys, vs man-cave decorators.
