1916 Erie steam shovel operating - video

Some how, I can recall witnessing such heavy equipment. The gear-toothed beam that swings that bottom drop bucket is unmistakable.

Everyone in our age bracket should remember reading about Mike Mulligan and his faithful steam shovel Mary Anne who bet that they could dig a basement for a town hall in one day then not having dug a ramp to get out of the hole Mary Anne was trapped Mike became a janitor and he and marry Anne resided in the basement of the town hall the book was loaded with pictures some were quite detailed. A must read for all young boys with any mechanical inclinations

Never heard or saw tale of Mr. Mulligan and dear Mary Anne, but I don't have any children.
So for others in same predicament.........

Air date is reported as September 10, 1991
So after watching, it is certainly offers better lessons than most children geared entertainment; such as learning to think ahead.
