Interesting looking at the US, and all over the other countries - Japanese interpretations of the era. Also, I see what looks like Napoleonin on an island to the west of Africa.

Napoleon was finally exiled by the British to St. Helena, an island off the west coast of Africa. He died there.

Yes, I knew that. However, he died in 1821 and this map was from 100 years later, thus the interesting note...

The map is from the era where the plans for the invasion of Manchuria and the empire building in the Pacific must have been well along. I wonder if they revered Napoleon as a world conqueror with intentions similar to their own? Maybe the effrontery of imprisoning an emperor offended them and they were sympathetic? Regardless, it is interesting, as you say.

It depicts a biplane plane landing in Paris. Lindbergh's plane was a monoplane and he didn't land there until 1927. So it must be annotating French contributions to early aviation. Hollywood's influence, even in 1924, is documented. And it appears this is the Russian border that Putin is trying to reclaim. So many interesting details in the eyes of another nation.

I like the hippalotamus swimming in the Amazon.

Nothing but the non existent landscape of both wheat fields and mountain ranges in my neck of the woods.

Next to Napoleon the Japanese text reads: "Napoleon, the hero of the world, drowns in defeat and dies here in tears"
