Matt
Look at the muffler, that thing will never run...
1000's of engines running with mufflers like that.

I had a kart just like that. Except mine was blue and had a self contained hydraulic disk brake. Was was around 1968.
It morphed into a shifter cart with a Honda 70 mini bike engine in the 80's when my nephews used to visit. Then back to Briggs for my kids after the Honda died. Now has a Briggs Raptor "5hp" engine on it and would outrun the Honda 70 easily.
If you want to give the grand kids a thrill, and grandma a heart attack, any one of these engines will bolt right on.

Look at color inside the deflector. 1000's of engines would turn that black...
just because it's been painted dont mean it wont run. new never run look just the same. we had a gocart just like that, 1 pull and off we went...with added cam, rod&piston that sucker was flying!!!! I finaly threw away the seat cover just like that one but about dead earlyer this year. that cart gave lots of fun.
I really appreciate the "privates pad" there on the steering column support. I wonder if that wasn't on initial production, but available later as an upgrade? ;-)
ours had that pad,I havent a clue as to what year ours was.we also had NOS on it....a pocket full of fun.
