Ultraleap makes a non-contact sensor that scans the position and location of your hands in real time. It's called Leap Motion. I bought one. It actually works fairly decently. It's not perfect, but it's way better than you would expect.

I've got one of these. They are the best thing in the world when working with 3D solid models in CAD (SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer, etc). Also have the smaller compact version looks like a hockey puck.
