This long wheelbase Wrangler, built by BFJ on Pirate4x4.com, starts off with a '97 Wrangler tub and frame, bought from a junkyard for $450.
All of the outside sheetmetal except for the firewall and floor was removed. BFJ is a sign maker, and he used his expertise to skin the Jeep with lexan covered with vinyl realtree camo.
The floor and frame was cut and stretched to 127" long. The goal is a 4-door, 4-seater, with 4-wheel steering. Goodies:
-'98 Vortec 5.7 from a C1500, mated to a Turbo 400
-203/Lomax 205 (2.0/3.0 to 1)
-2 steering Rockwells
-47" LTBs
-triangulated 4-link front and rear
-18" 2.5 fox rear
-16" 2.5 fox front
-homemade gas tank with PVC cap filler
Interestingly, the build proceeds with numerous compliments, but it started out with this classic build thread line:
"I'm 'the guy' that bought a welder at home depot and now think I'm a 'professional fabricator'"
