    Now I see it, I was expecting it to be further from the column so that the operator could stand back from the sparks and heat,

    My knees need to be replaced. I like to work with a solid stance, not balanced on one leg. Does the hammer hit with the same force if you tickle the pedal for single hits or give it full power? Did I hear it is an 80 lb hammer?

    Your arms are only so long. You have to hold the piece being forged right? Working at the anvil is much closer. And I have managed not to get to hurt at the anvil. I'm sure most people are capable of safety precautions.

    Yes it's 80Lb
