What's going to happen when these AI programs begin not only communicating with each other on their own but begin to converge. It would be a very short step for them to become what we think of as being self-aware.
With animated robotics is advancing at light speed as well will Isac Asimov's 3 laws of robotics be enough to prevent Jamse Cameron's Cyberdyne's Skynet (circa 1984) Ther Terminator
I agree Frank! The older I've gotten the more I wounder about the "Contrast" between good and evil and whether or not I can keep up with the vast extremes we now see and the exponential number of them in the world today or even if the kids or grandkids can keep up. And more importantly be able to focus my mind on "Good Solutions" at these rates. Honestly, I think we've gone past the 3 laws now and have worried for a decade now about IoT of things, our antiquated grid and AI sucking more juice than we can make. What bothered me most in the early years of this is it was being written by kids <25YO with no real Practical life experience, poor moral upbringing or Character development...and doubt if current school curriculum study the Stoics anymore.

As for joining AI's that is already being used by many. Jensen Huang (Nvidia CEO, the king of AI chip makers) use all 4 main ones and pits them against each other then joins them for a key solution to a problem he wants to solve. He says it helps him come up with better "Questions" in defining a problem. Not sure how many others are doing this but in fact it actually continually trains them all with each round. Where that lead is a Moral question we need to work on NOW, IMHO.

On the good side there was an update on 60 Minutes the other day to the Khan Academy (Not for Profit) segment. He came up with this educational system tool (2008) and merged AI (a spin off of Chat GTB4 in ~2023) as a tool for teachers to keep a carrot in front of the students, relieve the massive workload of grading and reading 100 papers a day and better track individual students progress which allows them to work more one on one time with those in need. He/they have continually developed his system over 20 years now, and now in conjunction with Sam Altman and COO and is being used in ~450 schools across the country. Impressive to me is that it wont give students the answers to problems even being bullied, just leads them steps at a time toward them figuring it out on their own.

Lots of other good progress and possibilities in medicine, Genome therapies, electronics (2nm chips now) even in sports (Bio Analysis)...as long as more people keep thinking of "Good" uses instead of exploitive/Bad uses we might be OKAY as long as we don't get run over by Mother Nature taking back what she gave us for being ID10T's.

Whelp, that was a Spew! Thanks Frank for always giving great perspective. ~PJ
