Quite possible, there are several diseases that can be caught from rodent urine. I can't for the life of me remember the name but I caught one when working in the waste industry and was bedridden for a couple of weeks and suffered some brain damage as a result and I know of several other people who have caught same thing from farm animals. Most people don't react but continual expose can sensitise some. In my case it was thought that the time I spent as an Opossum trapper had sensitised me and then getting exposed again years later when a bit run down had allowed it to take hold.
