Aluminum Shovel
Guys,
I'm wanting to make an aluminum shovel.
Intended use is for vehicle recovery when stuck in mud / snow / light gravel and dirt.
Wanting it to be light weight [ thus aluminum choice ], say 36" long, and sturdy enough to do some real digging. It will not be a flimsy box-store retail snow shovel design.
Anyone made one?
Have pics to share?
Thanks.

I purchased an aluminum shovel designed to work with bulk seed, etc. Very light but perhaps too big for your needs.

there are very light steel ones designed for hard work like concreting. But rust? hot coals shovels are too light for hard work.
good luck with a design strong enough.

I just bought 2 at wallmart for $5 each....on clearance, looks like they are changing brands again.these have a date on them from october 2018...

I keep in my car an aluminum grain scoop.
mrehmus I believe is referencing the same shovel used for bulk seed.
This shovel is great for digging your auto out from being stuck. You can reach fairly far under the vehicle. And you can throw snow a long distance if needed.

Some things you cannot make as cheaply as you can buy. Aluminum like above or one of the newer plastic ones of the same design.
My aluminum scoop shovel has been moving snow and serving as a dust pan in my garage since 1976. Still going strong. I do want to try a plastic one for snow, the aluminum is "sticky" when you are clearing snow from a concrete driveway or sidewalk. The aluminum "sticks" to the rough surface.
