Hi stomp10,
Welcome! :welcome:
Many of us are also working out of small shops (garage, basement, etc.) and having fun along the way. What sort of homemade tools are your favorites?
Are you working on anything currently?
Ken
Hi stomp10 - welcome to HomemadeTools.net :welcome:
Do you see any projects here that you might build next?
A few years ago I picked up an Edelstaal Machinex 5 lathe. Kind of a basic 3 in 1 machine. The lathe, although limited in size is quite capable of producing small precision parts. At this time I am working on making a new downfeed screw and associated hardware in order to get the milling capabilities restored on this machine. Not that it will be capable of plunge cuts or anything. It would be nice to have it all functional again. I am utilizing the 9x20 to get this done.
If all this works out, this will be my first home made tooling...
Have been looking at lathe powered milling attachments on the web too. I may attempt a build on one of those too, unless a new mill just happens to land in my lap. :D
If a new mill lands in your lap, you're going to bigger problems!
Let's see some pics of your downfeed screw project - lots of us would enjoy following along over your shoulder…
