That thing scares me and I'm fearless. Also, it should have a foot switch...

Where O where does one find old worm drive reduction gearbox's in the trash?
One does not find those in the trash. That is why I used a snowblower front gearbox on my last project...
Was this Mk.I?

That's cute if you're splitting little pieces of wood. The rounds I split are 2 to 4 feet in diameter...
Percussion log splitters are very clearly dangerous, A portable saw is far safer:

Next Darwin candidate, or is it participant?
Agreed. Horrendous. Starting with goofy turned down hat brim. What blade?
Without enough inertia for a sure cut, throws your timing off.
Hello emergency room, goodbye digits. The terrain says one not around the corner either.
I see his key-way cutting skills did not stand the test of time! His solution rather appalled me, welding the shaft at both ends to the gear hub! :-(
Severe thumbs down for that! His one bolt fastening of the electric motor, was right up there with Heath Robinson, too!
His lack of materials lead to a couple of design anomalies... see the bottom of the gearbox mounts...
The guy that designed that big splitting wheels name was "Lefty".
A kindling splitter possibly, but log splitter is perhaps a rather ambitious description. And is scares me too.
When it happens, man up and tell us; don't leave us in suspence
I found one. It was in a dentist chair that someone dropped off at the township recycling bins. Which are for can, glass bottles, card board and plastic bottles.
I got a lot good stuff out of that chair. I am still using parts of it. The wrom drive is still on my shelf. I see it in my imagination as the basis for an indexing table. But not time for that yet.
