Yes, research shows wealthy Romans had hot and cold water taps and piped flush toilets.

Actual Romans invented very little from what I have read, they were however extremely successful at hiring people who could build things - Or making them slaves which was more common. Most of the pieces of the Colosseum and other structures was also appropriated from other lands that they had conquered.
