Angle set from 2 squares
there are times when I want to check the set back or an angle for a bend I just grab a tri square and a small frame square or other straight edge
Often I do not need to know what the angle is although it would be easy enough to calculate I just need to know the set back for a bend.
This is how I did it
Checking the center of the hood of my truck

Reminds me of a discussion I had about 15 years ago with a capable young man above stair angle. He was stuck on needing to know the angle. I said. Don't care. Give the rise in height over the run in length of stairs. I'll figure out the rest. Only after I drew it out did he finally get the concept. Sometimes the math is required. Sometimes it simply gets in the way. You will be much more accurate with your system than with a protractor!

Too true! I routinely use actual measure, especially when doing repetitive measures, like placing a stack of drawer slides, by cutting scrap to size and stacking. The eyes (and the fingers) are more accurate than many give credit. While taking a bicycle frame building course from Albert Eisentraut in '75, he taught us that the eye was accurate to .002". Good on the both of you!
