Hi Folks,
Came across this site a couple of weeks ago when I was searching for something (forgot what). Looked interesting. I have spent most of my career as an electronics technologist designing, fabricating electronic devices of some sort or other. Many involved fabricating metal, plastic or wood in the process. I also farm part-time with well used farm equipment some of it 60+ years old. As a result over the years I have set myself up a reasonably complete electronics/electrical shop ( oscilloscopes, signal generators, multimeters, printed circuit board making facilities etc.) a woodworking shop (radial and table saws, jointer, router, band saw, hand tools etc.) and a metal fabricating shop with mig, tig and stick welders, plasma torch, metal shear, brake and rolls, 12x40 and 4x18 metal lathes, hydraulic press, mill/drill, Bridgeport mill, Cincinatti mill, power shear, 15 ton power punch (last 4 items are being refurbished/repaired) abrasive chop saw, vert/horiz band saw, angle grinders etc. and enough hand tools to overhaul and maintain my farm equipment and vehicles.
Do a little casting and mold making sometimes also. A typical week may find me being an electronics tech, instrumentation tech, millwright, electrician, small engine mechanic, machinist, welder, appliance repairman, plumber, agriculture technician, heavy duty mechanic, trailer mechanic, carpenter, etc as I do a lot of repairs for neighbors and small businesses in my area.
Current real project is making a lift for a fellow to move his disabled wife from her wheel chair into his camper van.
