    Hi Gang:
Is there a second long link that reverses the chain down again?

Seems the slides should be centered on the sprocket. The return of the lower links is jerky even in this model.

There is so much wrong with this model it is hard to explain. First off as Gatz mentioned the guide ways are not conducive for a smooth operation Second the only way for this to be a true reversing operation would be for there to be a second link below the upper link after a short length of chain. If you notice in the model the chain jumps from one side of the sprocket to the other the only way that can happen is to remove it and reinstall it on the opposite side. Since the sprocket has to be the driving force here with tension on both ends of the chain adding the second link is the only way I see it working
Never try to tell me it can't be done

Just because you can model it in CAD and animate it doesn’t mean it actually works.

I worked for a guy who used CAD like this. Things he drew often weren’t possible to build.

You have to be smarter than the cad program otherwise you can spend countless hours and buckets full of money in prototyping
