I have built a few of those. The problem with this system is the retrieval time and the mass that has to be started and stopped with each loading or unloading of a vehicle.
Never try to tell me it can't be done

The owner looks to be standing directly into traffic flow then blindly backs into the same traffic, looks dicey.

Where did you build them? I've never seen one in real life before. I thought it was only a China and Japan thing.

We built a couple of the Japanese systems in Dubai a couple years after they were in operation they were replaced with a more sustainable system which was fully automated 2 elevators which would lift a vehicle on a shifting open platform move up or down or to the left or the right then deposit the vehicle in a designated spot lower the fingered platform return it into the confines of the elevator car then go back to carry the next vehicle. My company was not involved with that system. I think only people in places like Dubai Kuwait Bahrain or China and Japan or possibly Germany have the imaginations and funds to want things like these. But back in the 1950s Thes vertical chain carousels were not all that uncommon in places like Chicago The 2 ,3, and 4 car vertical hydraulic lifts that I helped develop became very popular during the 1990s in New York New jersey Pittsburg Seatle the La area Salt lake and even in several private homes, They are still being built today and marketed by a company by the name of American custom lifts. I built dozens for a guy by the name of Brad Davies It was he who sold the first 2 of my elevator lifts to Kuwait which led my decision to relocate over there for 10 years. After I went there to supervise their installation.
