My father took us to Boston on a steam powered train in the fifties to enable us to say we had ridden a steam train, this was from Keene NH so it was a long ride.

My uncle was a machinist for Baldwin Locomotive Works during these years.
Cool guy. Cool job.

PS Unfortunately for both railfan and historian alike, not one EM-1 is preserved for future generations to tour and see.

Yes, that is unfortunate. Those big old engines were beautiful machines.
