Ball peen hammer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHE2uUXjIqE
In this video I make a ball peen hammer from an old lathe tool bit that I found in a scrapyard. While I realize that this isn't the ideal steel for a hammer, after over a year of using it, I see no sign of wear or deteriorating. The handle is made from ash. I used both of my homemade hand planes as well a marking gauge that I've made. In later videos I will be making a new dovetailed infill panel plane and also a new marking gauge amongst other tools. I'm just learning to film and edit so quality isn't as good but I will try to improve with every subsequent video.

Nice. That was a pretty large tool bit to begin with.

Yep, it was a pretty big tool bit, although this hammer is more for light work because it ain't really heavy.

Thanks for the video. A ball peen head was one of my first machining projects waay back.
