BASE FOR UNIMAT LATHE
This project was inspired by some works presented in the Yahoo Unimat Group.
The base has two objectives: first, as a riser stand; by increasing the height of Unimat lathe makes it more comfortable to work with. And secondly, to store in the drawer those most frequently used lathe accessories.
The materials for the project were leftover or reused pine wood. Both the back piece of the external box and the front piece of the drawer are attached to the side pieces with dovetail joints.
For the finish, I used lacquer: gray for the external box, and red for the drawer.

Nice addition to the Unimat SL, puts the lathe at a better height on the bench and keeps the Unimat accessories organized and in one place. How do you like using the Unimat power feed?
-
Thanks, Paul Jones.
I use power feeding when turning long pieces of aluminum, copper or brass; the finish is smoother than when feeding by hand. Since the attachment does not interfere with any other operation, there is no need to remove when not in use.
