Bead roller die drawings
Hi All
I am hoping someone will be able to help me.
I am in the process of building a Bead roller and I would like to make my own dies.
Has anyone made his or her own dies? If so, would you have any drawings you would be kind enough to forward me? I appreciate there are hundreds of die designs available for different applications, but just thought someone might have made a standard set like the ones that come with the bead rollers you can buy on EBay etc.
I have drawn up the main body, shafts, bearing blocks, and quick release die clamp. I have acquired a clutched motor and have ordered a Drum Base foot pedal from EBay, which I hope to adapt to operate the motor via a Bowden cable so this can be a wondering foot pedal to suit different positions when using the bead roller. Once started I will do a post on the build. I guess I could draw up the dies but would save sometime if I could plagiarize.
I thank you all in advance for your time

I searched for "Bead Roller Die" and got many hits. Here is the photos page from that search.

There were many more hits that you can examine. Should be enough to get you started.
I hope you can harden them. I doubt that they will last long if not.

make the rollers out of 1045 which is common for barstock, heat it to bright red and oil quench it will be hard, 4140 steel will also work but its pricey.

Hi rekdr
Thank you for the info. Looked it up and the equivalent UK grade is EN8 so will be looking to purchase some soon once I have completed the drawings.
