Belt sander stand

I would like to make a stand for my fur inch Rockwell belt sander which I might use to sharpen tools and small projects made of wood. Any thoughts out there?

How big is the foot print of the sander? You might think about using a 2 drawer metal filing cabinet, an older one. They are cheap, easy to put a dolly under to wheel around and they have good storage underneath for extra belts of different grit or a small shop vac.

I use old drums from big trucks to make stands for my stuff. Very heavy and stable, and cheap or free to get. Go to a big truck shop and some will just give them to you, or go to a scrapyard and buy one. Typically 30 cents a lb where I live for steel/cast iron, so a drum costs me less than $30 if I can't get a free one. Drums are nice because without using casters you can move them around easily. I'll post a pic of one I'm building right now when I get out to my shop tomorrow.

Before I learned about using a brake drum from a truck, I used a wheel and tire from Craigs List free section.

The price was right, some scrap 2" pipe is the vertical member and the rest is welded up from a recycled bed frame.
