Can you imagine how mad that cyclist would have been if the guy in the car had done that to HIM on his bike.

People take it for granted when they cross the road! They don't bother themselves to turn their heads right or left. They trust everyone blindly!

Pretty normal in Europe, this crossing is a wonder to watch https://www.skylinewebcams.com/en/we...a-venezia.html

So I wonder what the cyclist thought the car was stopped for? In my experience bicyclists are the biggest offenders when it comes to road rule breaking. No signals, usually no lights, don't stop for traffic lights or signs, ride on the wrong side of the road, dark clothes riding in the dark. Most of them are just clueless and don't care or pay attention until the split second before they take out a pedestrian, get hit by a driver that doesn't see them because they ran a light. This is totally NOT her fault. She saw him and stopped. The guy on the bike didn't even look up and attempt to swerve to avoid. Pedestrians ALWAYS have the right-of-way. The guy on the bike is 100% at fault.

Having the right of way does not mean that you are going to win or come out on top. I do not understand how people do not keep their head on a swivel when crossing traffic. The homeless around here have gotten bad about just walking out across a cross walk without the walk signal and not even looking. Almost like they are asking for assisted suicide.

It's your own life if you want to gamble with it. Sure you can argue "I have the right of way", but at what cost?? A severe injury or even death! What if a driver goes into a diabetic coma or sudden heart attack and fails to stop at the pedestrian crossing? Will you be happy to rest in peace while your relatives collect the insurance? In Tempe, Arizona, a self-driving Uber struck and killed a woman while walking her bike across the street. The Arizona woman was behaving just like the subject woman in the video, she crossed the street without swiveling her head -trusting everyone on the road- and only when the Uber car reached her, did she finally turn her head.

This woman was not gambling. She was aware, watching and actively tried to avoid being hit by a clueless moron on a bike. The guy on the bike had more than enough time to stop or swerve to avoid blasting a defenseless pedestrian but obviously felt he was entitled to ride through because his time and destination were more important than anything else in existence. The guy should be cited and if I were the woman, I'd sue him into oblivion. (Cue the "anti-courts" crowd).

Don't see what the Uber issue or other stuff was about, certainly not this issue.
