Part of us wants to be recognized for building something truly unique. In the world of custom building, you either build for show or build for speed. Winning awards or breaking speed records are routes to take if one wishes to leave his mark. We all know that building a machine is no easy task and winning in competitions is not a walk in the park.

This two-part build thread by isiahstites on V-TwinForum.com, shows how a '98 Bell S3 went from a busted bike to a salt flat rocket. There are actually two iterations of the bike. The first logged 128.787 mph and the improved fully-faired version built a year later logged 172.2 mph, well within its class. Both iterations hold their own in both speed and looks. Two best builds in one!
