Binding laminating jig
And while I'm on the mandolin binding, here is my jig for laminating that kind of binding, made of a large white plastic strip laminated with a black and white thin purfling.
Here is the setup, highly inspired by an existing commercial jig :
The glue is simply acetone, which is brushed between the strips, all together pushed in the channel of the jig.
The jaws are made from some sort of nylon scraps which does not react with acetone. The top piece of sheet metal acts as a spring that press the parts together.

And here is how it looks like, after a bit of scrapping :

Very nice. Learned something new!

The scraped binding looks really neat. Forgive my ignorance, Cristophe, but how long is the drying time before the binding is ready for scraping?

Hi Al,
That's very quick, as acetone if very volatile, but you need to wait for the plastic to harden, that's maybe 20mn ..
