So - that ship on the left is labeled Swabenland. That relates to Swabia, one of the Duchies in Germany.

The boat is a seaplane launch ship. This ship was part of the 1938-1939 Third German Antarctic Expedition. They were on an expedition to establish Neu-Schwabenland. The Germans were looking for sources of oils (they didn’t want to depend on Norway) and wanted to set up a whaling base so they could supplement oil/fat production for the war effort.
