Grew up on a cattle ranch in the 40's and 50's, each farm truck and tractor, etc. had multiple sets of wood blocks under the seat, different heights, labeled with each kid's name, so that any of us could drive that vehicle and reach the pedals.
Before we got our drivers licenses, we learned to back a tractor (semi tractor, our old Alison Chalmers chain drive) first with no trailer, then one trailer, then doubles. When we got so that we could maneuver through the "course" Pop set out for us backward with just the side mirrors, then we learned to drive them going forward with all the windows uncovered.
Other than being unavoidably hit by drunk drivers, none of the 6 of us has ever had an accident, and I'm the youngest at 77, the oldest is 92.
So that early training as you say Frank, pays off!
