I just turned 64, and I have been welding since 1969, mostly TIG welding aluminum, some stainless, and a fair amount of stick welding out in the field. I did grow up on a farm, but not necessarily THAT kind of field, but that too, some. Now I am going to try my hand at blacksmithing, figured I might as well learn to weld with a hammer, too. I ride motorcycles, I have 120,000+ miles on one bike. I had 3 certifications for tig welding aluminum from the Federal Government, but they are no longer current. Seems I am always fixing something, or trying to make something out of something else! Oh, I live near Niagara Falls, U.S. side.

Hi bmwsid - welcome to HomemadeTools.net :welcome:
What blacksmithing projects do you have in mind?

Hello. Nice to have a specialist in aluminum welding here, anxious to see their designs, welcome to the forum :welcome:

Hi bmwsid,
Welcome! :welcome:
Sounds as though you've got a complimentary set of skills and interests, from welding to motorcycles to forging. Have you searched our encyclopedia for blacksmith tools? You might find one or two items (or dozens!) of interest there… :D
When you're ready to share some of your own homemade tools, we'd love to see them. Please post them directly in the Homemade Tools subforum. We'll add each one to the database, as well as to your builder page on the site.
Non-tool items should be shared in the Not a Tool, but Homemade subforum.
