You may have seen proprietary board lifters in toolshops or catalogues. This is a bandsaw offcut from yesterday, which I am taking to work, labelled so nobody throws it away (just to be optimistic. Last week the mallet and scissors went missing. I don’t know whether my Manchester nippers are here or have been lost from there)
The advantage of using this instead of a crowbar is that it doesn’t damage the bottom of the door.
I believe I got this idea from Robert Wearing’s excellent book “Woodwork Aids & Devices”.

Good one Philip! I've found useful offcuts over the years that ended up being 'keepers' for another purpose...BUT I'm gonna make one just like yours for that express purpose! I've always used wedges in the past, with less than stellar results...nothing worse than door hanging alone...cheers
Jim
