One might ask why there are so many bicycles in the canal.
I was told that more bicycles are stolen in Amsterdam in 1 day than the amount stolen through out the rest of the world combined.
I spent a couple weeks in Zandvoort just South of Amsterdam Proper. I had rented a car but bought a bicycle to get around town and go to be beach on. 3 different guys tried to steal it within the first 2 hours of owning it
Dutch gin is powerful stuff. The absence of guard rails along many of the canals doesn't help.Quote:
