BoatBuilds.net: Woods Design Pixie Catamaran by catbuild

This pixie catamaran, built by catbuild on catbuild.tumblr.com, started out of frustration at shipping an American boat to Uruguay, or buying a ready-built one there.

The frustration does not end there. Turns out boatbuilding in a low-infrastructure country can be extremely challenging, and the various challenges and adventures incurred by the builder are well-documented in this build.

The bulk of the wood was Cedrino, which is essentially a cheaper and more loosely-structured offshoot of Cedar. Hardware sourcing was complicated, and the costs of tools and parts in Uruguay was prohibitive.

Ultimately, the work paid off, and the build was completely nicely, for only around $1200 before rigging.
