Bottoming tap made from a tapered starting tap

I'm sure many have done this, cut the tapered starting threads off of a worn or broken tap to make a plug or bottoming tap out of it.
But a brand new tap? I bought a 3 tap set of 9/16" 18 taps which was supposed to have been starting, plug and bottoming when hte set came in there were 2 starting and a plug, but for what I was doing I needed a bottoming tap.

Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products

I had a similar dilemma. I bought a brand new tool and was unhappy with the fit. I considered returning it but decided if I want to be a machinist (even as a beginner) I should fix it myself rather than send it back. That was a watershed moment in my development.
