Bottoms Up reverse draft beer cup filling system - GIF and video

Bottoms Up system for dispensing draft beer through the bottoms of cups. In case you were wondering: magnets.

Made for high-volume bars and restaurants, but shown here installed in an easy chair.

Not sure what to think here. It could certainly save time, and eliminate most foamy beer pours. Is it demeaning to people to give them jobs consisting largely of pouring liquids? Or is the act of manually pouring a pint of beer a critical part of human culture? Is this what they mean when they say that "robots" will take most jobs in the future? Is this "wrong" somehow, like buttering your bread with the butter side down?

This reminds me of this classic Chief O'Brien at Work webcomic:

In no time at all there will be a long line of beer aficionados waiting to tell everyone that beer placed in proximity to magnets loses its "natural" flavor.

In Germany they have laws, the Reinheitsgebot, about what can be used to make beer. Now they're going to need laws about how it will be dispensed.

And, finally, what's the chance a machine will replace this beer-delivery device?

In most places, just hold your glass aloft and "Noch einmal" will do it.

Yeah, that works too, for Schnapps, which I prefer over bier
With bier as soon as you drink it, it's unhappy, and wants to leave you....

Schnapps, on the other hand, likes you and hangs around longer....

never had to worry about running low on bier at the Oktoborfest problem was finding a place to sit down 2000 people in a 750 person tent got real crowded
Once sitting at one of the 20 ft long tables I was seated at the end of the bench the wife squeezed was squeezed in on my left when this young lady sat on my knee then bent over the wife jabbed me in the ribs and asked who's that? Probably my next wife if you jab me in the ribs again relax she was just looking for a place to tie her shoes. When she finished she stood up bent over and kissed me then said Danka and left. See I told you she could be my next wife the wife was not amused I didn't care the bier was good the music was too loud and everyone was having a good time

I have always understood that the Germans and particularly the Dutch liked lots of froth on their beer. An Englishman on the other hand will often return a pint with too much froth and demand that it be filled with beer. Pint "handles" in England have a line cast into them marking the pint liquid line, and there is about half an inch above that line allowed for the froth. Heaven help the bar person that doesn't ensure that the liquid level is up to the pint line. An Englishman doesn't seem to worry if he is poured a "flat" pint as long as the glass is full to the line or brim. Before Lager took over the English pub scene, some drinkers would add a Gin to their pint. The conversation also often went like this , "Can you fit a Gin in there". "Certainly Sir". "Then fill it up with beer".
This machine should do well in England with it's current froth levels, and in Canada and the USA where they don't mind drinking out of plastic cups.

many even drink it out of aluminum cans store bought beer in the USA is not worth buying, either have to brew it yourself and be happy with it if it didn't come out just right, know someone who brews, or visit a micro brewery or do like I do, without.
