We had one of those in high school.
The standard "prank" was to pop someone's mouth piece on so hard that they would have to have the band director use the tool before the kid could put his horn away, which often meant, since band was last period, that the kid would miss the school bus and have to walk home.
Ha Ha! Great fun!
We used to make up a wooden fork and give it a rap with a hammer to pop it out. Never failed to work and never damaged an instrument!
