My mom and dad took me on a tour to the Tasty Bread factory when they had their grand opening, I had just tuned 5 I think or there abouts. The smell of the fresh baked bread was amazing. I remember on the tour the guy was telling about how this or that worked then he pointed out something he called an optic eye. Naturally being the curious type and never shy I asked what does it do? He smiled I think, then went on to explain so 5 year old could understand it. It can see the bread loves as they pass by and tell the machine what to do whit them. A few years later my 3rd grade class when on a tour of the MRS Baird's Bakery when we got to a part where the bread was being sorted or shifted from one conveyor to another I noticed there was a thin wire that touched the bread causing it to go this way or that way, so I asked the guy why don't you use optic eyes like the Tasty Bread factory does in Austin. I'm just a tour guide kid not an engineer. Then he quickly moved us along to somewhere else. I didn't think the Baird's bakery smelled near as good as the Tasty bread factory they called it when I was 5. It is funny how memories can surface seeing something you've seen so many years ago.
