    Wonder how old the rail is? It looks cast from the fracture. I thought rails were cold rolled?

    This is a 1950 rail - I've attached a photo with full markings. As far as I know, rails were made of cast iron only until the second half of the 19th century. Then they were made from Hot Rolled Steel
