It'd be fun to stand there suited up in hockey gear and try to to catch and stack.

I find myself wondering about that pile of mortar, or is it just sand. How long that tube is for the mortar to slide down.

Instead of bringing bricks up the hil and then sliding them down, why not stop at the level they need the bricks and just unload them? Seems like a lot more work! Am I not understanding something here?

Just speculation here, but there are several situations where a slide may be desirable. Construction sites vary widely. Available equipment varies widely.

    1) It is very possible the road to delivery site is above the construction site with no access from below.

    2) It is also possible there is a road both above and below. I would much rather slide bricks down the hill, that carry them UP.

You bet! Have you ever priced a gravity switch and dealt with lead time?
