    No way that broken nipple came out of that fitting that easy. If the piece is that loose, just use two crossed screwdrivers to get it out.

    Why not just used two wrenches on that square hunk of wood instead of weakening it by drilling that big hole so make it split.

    Any plumber that actually works would. I have several that would work in that situation; pipe wrenches, adjustable wrenches, channel locks, etc.

    I've never seen a broken Dutchman that rusty with OKUM as a sealant that would have come out that easy.
