    Self-supporting arches have been around a lot longer than 700 years. There are structures with arches so old that who built them has been long forgotten, and the older they are the more likely they'll have no mortar. I think that what they mean is the Spanish technique of building arches and domes without a supporting structure, relying on the mortar to hold the structure together until it's finished. It's not very strung until then.

    I would like to know the mortar mix. It seems superior to so-called fast grab adhesive.

    I’d like to know a bit about the mortar as well. It looks pretty wet and heavy on the lime. But someone with more knowledge in this, please correct me.

    Grand designs England did a story on a house that used this technique and Plaster a Paris was the bonding agent. The house won a design award.
