Building columns made to look like interlocking gears - photo

This is just begging for a hollywood SFX makeover where the gears start turning the columns, dropping the circular entrance there into the Villains Secret Laboratory hidden underground :-)

I assume the gears on tne right of the columns are dummies.... Shouldn't they be opposite spiral ?

Agreed. Concept vs execution issue. :)

Civil Engineers are neither civil nor Engineers lol. If an apprentice had made that rookie mistake they would be out on their ear, Inter meshing on another galaxy perhaps. Really nice piece of architecture though. You don't see companies creating advertising statements about their purpose anymore. We had a motor winding company that had a motor driving a cylinder with a painted spiral on it "Smiths" they had a motor running for as long as i could remember.

The site has changed recently into an office block with new buildings so sadly doesn't look like it did in days of old.

NOPE! They look correct to me. I just wonder if they are true involutes.
That is a neat idea!

The teeth on the column side of the small gears are aligned with the teeth on the column. If the small gears on the right of the column had the opposite spiral of the gears on the left of the columns, it would be perpendicular to the spiral on the column when they met. Remember to look at the gears on the side that they meet.
It looks like each piece was cast separately, in which case the only way for the small gears to be spaced evenly is if the gear teeth meshed on both sides.
