Not many rodeo fans here, I take it.
Why do they do it? My guess would be the potential of $200,000 plus and all the buckle bunnies you can stand. But only if you're the champ or a darn close 2nd.

Last rodeo I attended, I was 17, watching one of the high school girls I had a bit of a crush on barrel racing. I'm 67 today. She was crazier and tougher that I was. Couldn't have worked out. IIRC, her name was Sharon, but that was a lot of dead brain cells ago.

I like rodeo. Last rodeo I attended was about 7 years ago. But at this point in my life, it actually hurts my body to watch that. My body has sympathy pains when it sees those cowboys crash like they so often do.

I see that they are chasing the bull, rather than trying to avoid him. I thought in rodeo it was the last man standing who won? These are people training to distract the animal when a rider comes off, are they?

In fact, the proper job title is no longer Rodeo Clown. It is now Bullfighter, truly.

Reminds me of a couple of my rugby matches playing against some of the larger teams...

I really don't care for clowns, at all, but that does look like a lot of fun!

    Perhaps.

Of course, I never rode a bull... but I did ride a large, pissed-off hog once. He DID NOT want me on his back, at all!!

It's surprising to me honestly that we don't hear about more people being seriously injured or killed after fooling around with these bulls. You have to be some kind of crazy to climb in the ring with one of those, not to mention climb on their back and try to ride them.
